Genesis
Jonas pointed out that his mother, Monica, is the reason why he became a soccer player. "I owe this to my mother" – he said. "As a child, I suffered a paralisis on the left side of my body. Once cured, the doctors adviced me to do some sort of sports activity, so I started out with soccer, first, for Estudiantes Club and then for Argentinos Juniors and River Plate. His mother, who's a devoted beliver, is responsible for his son's name, one of the preachers of the bible who survived after spending three days inside the belly of a whale. This is the name that drew a smile in the afflicted face of Velez Sarsfield club's face.

Debut
Jonas debut was at the age of 19, when he entered the field substituing for Juan Casado. Five minutes afterwards, he scored his first goal; he covered his face with his hands as in disbelieve, felt on his knees and cried out for a while. "I couldn't believe it! I was so exited and so many things crossed my mind at that moment...I just didn't know how to celebrate it!" – declared Jonas. He is considered a different breed of soccer players, capable of causing a complete turnarround of the match with his interventions.

RCD Mallorca
At the end of July of 2005, the phone rang at Jonas' home in Saenz Peña; he had not yet returned from his training session in Velez Sarsfield club. His mother Monica answered it and received news from Mr. Raul Gamez that her son was to board a plane to Palma de Mallorca at 10 o'clock at night in order to set up his contract with the RCD Mallorca. This was an absolute surprise for him and his family, since they were completely unaware of the negotiations that had been going between the clubs regarding Jonas' transfer to the Spanish league, La Liga.
Tears of joy and sadness from his family and friends acompanied him while packing the suitcase, calling up the girlfriend and finally marching towards the airport, only trying to imagin what would be out there for him in Europe. His father and him, arrived at Mallorca on a Saturday afternoon. Several meetings between both clubs' managers, his father and him followed until accord was reached. That is when his carrer in Europe began.
At first his performance did not satisfy the club's expectations. But after some time of adaptation he became, and he was, an escential part of the Mallorca's team. He's been identified in the leage as "one of the players that one must be carefull of". It was in RCD Mallorca, where the nickname 'Spiderman' were created, due to his celebration after he scored against Osasuna.
On july of 2008 and after a very good leagues, Jonas was transfered to Newcastle United F.C from England.
